"We've made the trip out to Brooks Falls a couple hundred times. We won't promise you a certain number of bears; no honest operator can. What we will promise is that everything we tell you is true, and that we'll get you there."
Katmai B&B is your basecamp for bear viewing at Brooks Falls. A local host, your floatplane arranged, and the most famous salmon run in Alaska. We take care of the logistics from King Salmon out to Brooks Falls.
Katmai B&B is a riverfront bed & breakfast on the Naknek River in King Salmon, Alaska, the gateway to Katmai National Park and one of the greatest bear-viewing spots in the world. It's your basecamp for bear viewing at Brooks Falls. We're secluded on five acres on the northern shore of the Naknek, just 30 miles from the world-famous Brooks Falls, and we keep the lodge to six guests so every stay stays intimate and custom.
Traveling to Katmai can feel overwhelming. There are no roads in, and the flights, floatplanes, and permits all have to line up. That's the part we handle. You get a comfortable riverfront room with breakfast, WiFi, and daily shuttle included, and all the day-to-day planning handled for you.
There are no roads into Katmai. Three legs get you from Anchorage out to Brooks Falls: a flight to King Salmon, a night at our lodge, and the floatplane or boat to the bears. We handle the parts that trip people up. Tap any leg.
Katmai supports over 2,000 brown bears, more than the entire lower 48 combined. At Brooks Falls you watch them fish for salmon from the Park Service viewing platforms, on your own schedule. Individual bears come and go, but the cast is always the same. Tap one.
Everything we know about seeing the bears at Brooks Falls: the costs, the timing, the permits, and how the logistics fit together, laid out the way a local does it. No email wall. And if you'd rather not piece it together yourself, that's exactly what we're here for.
